Sand is 2000 thriller comedy film, directed and written by Matt Palmieri. Starring Michael Vartan, Norman Reedus, Kari Wührer, Harry Dean Stanton, Emilio Estevez, Denis Leary, Jon Lovitz and Julie Delpy.

Plot

The Briggs family comes together for the first time in over 20 years to attend the funeral and read the will of Marina (Kayle Martin). It is a very uneasy experience for Tyler (Michael Vartan), her son.

Having been abandoned by his father Gus (Marshall Bell) when he was an infant, Tyler grew up only with his mother Marina and felt no real ties to Gus or his two stepbrothers Barker (Rodney Eastman) and Hardy (John Hawkes), who were not only alcoholic cocaine addicts but also very ill-mannered and an embarrassment.

Tyler disliked Gus' good friend and travel companion "Boston" Teddy (Denis Leary), whose obsession with the Kennedy family of Hyannis Port, Massachusetts, as well as John F. Kennedy's sexual exploits in and out of the White House even disturbed Gus.

Marina left her son Tyler everything that she had. Tyler, in a show of good faith, only took the White 1972 Ford LTD and a photo album and left everything else, the house and $6,000, to his father Gus. Tyler then took off for the coast to where Marina was born and raised to get away from the "family" in solitude.

Sand (band)

Sand is a five-piece experimental rock/jazz/electronic group based in Birmingham. Formed in 1998, its members are Tim Wright (electronics, keyboards and vocals), Hilary Jeffery (trombone), John Richards (double and electric bass), Neil Griffiths (guitar and films) and Rowan Oliver (drums/percussion). It should not be confused with the 1970s German band of the same name.

Sand was originally an offshoot of Tim Wright's Germ project, and members of the band are also involved in the band Scorn.

Sand performed live for the first time at The Spotted Cow in York in June 1995 with drummer Ben Clark.

Their early work was dominated by a jazz aesthetic but as a relationship developed with Soul Jazz Records' owner Stuart Baker the sound became more focused and guitar oriented, whilst maintaining an improvisatory approach to recording and performing. This led to three albums on the Soul Jazz label. They are: Beautiful People Are Evil (1999), Still Born Alive (2001), and The Dalston Shroud (2006) as well as 12" vinyl EPs.

Prince (2011 film)

Prince is a 2011 Kannada film in the action and romance genre starring Darshan Tugudeep, Nikita Thukral and Jennifer Kotwal in the lead roles. The film has been directed and written by Om Prakash Rao and produced by Sandesh Nagaraj under Sandesh Combines. This film is a remake of Telugu film SHOCK starring Ravi Teja And Jyothika The music of the film was composed by V. Harikrishna. The movie is based on the 2006 Telugu movie Shock (2006 film).

Prince (album)

Prince is the eponymous second studio album by American recording artist Prince. It was released on October 19, 1979 by Warner Bros. Records. The album was written, arranged, composed, produced and performed entirely by Prince, with the only known contribution from another person being "some vocal harmony" added by close friend/bassist André Cymone on Track 2.

Prince recorded the album in just a few weeks after Warner Bros. asked for a follow-up to his 1978 debut, For You. Prince had used twice his initial recording advance on the album, and it had failed to generate a pop hit (although "Soft and Wet" became a No. 12 R&B hit). Displeased at his lack of success, Prince quickly recorded the follow-up.

Overall, the album was much more diverse and well-received than For You, critically and commercially. The success of this album geared Prince towards his next, Dirty Mind, which would be called a complete departure from his earlier sound.
